What is the Employee Experience Framework?
The Employee Experience Framework is a model designed to improve the overall employee experience in an organization. It includes all employee interactions throughout their lifecycle and focuses on improving job satisfaction, engagement, productivity, and retention.
Mckinsey and Company define employee experience (EX) as “companies and their people working together to create personalized, authentic experiences that ignite passion and tap into purpose to strengthen individual, team, and company performance.”
The RESPECT framework, as outlined by Jack Wiley and Brenda Kowske in their book, “RESPECT: Delivering Results by Giving Employees What They Really Want”, offers a clear and practical guide to understanding and improving the employee experience (EX).
The seven dimensions of the RESPECT framework are:
- Recognition: Public acknowledgment of work achievements, ranging from a simple pat on the back to formal awards.
- Exciting: Engaging, interesting, and challenging aspects of an employee’s daily role.
- Security: Confidence in job stability and trust in the organization’s management.
- Pay: Fair and competitive compensation for all employees.
- Education: Opportunities for career growth, including upskilling, reskilling, and fostering a growth mindset.
- Conditions: Physical work environment, equipment, lighting, and benefits like meals and transportation.
- Truth: Transparency and honesty in organizational processes and communication.
Thus, this framework clearly defines and enhances the Employee Experience within organizations.
