SaaS means Software as a Service. It is a framework for providing application or software service to the customers. Under SaaS-based technology offering, the vendor does not sell the software but simply lends the software via cloud/internet. Unlike on-premise software installation, users can easily access the information via mobile application or web from anywhere through login credentials. SaaS applications are sometimes called Web-based software, on-demand software, or hosted software.

Whatever the name, SaaS applications run on a SaaS provider’s servers. Since it is a cloud-based technology, it relies only on the internet and not on any device. Users can log into and use a SaaS application from any compatible device like a laptop, computer, mobile, or tablet over the Internet. The actual application runs in cloud servers that may be far removed from a user’s location.
