Internal Promotion Rate is the measurement at which opened positions in an organization are filled by internal hires. In this recruitment process, employers select the best talent and fulfil the vacant positions. The process helps companies to evaluate internal talent’s capability to fulfil different roles. If not done properly, internal promotions can lead to certain disadvantages for the company considering the fact that a top performer in a particular division is shifted to another division to manage other roles. This may not justify the high productivity level of the employee, and the company may lose a subject matter expert of a certain area.
