You will oversee daily warehouse operations and make sure that our inventory management, shipping, receiving, and overall facility operations run efficiently and safely.

Key Roles and Responsibilities

The roles and responsibilities of a warehouse supervisor include:

  • Oversee daily activities of warehouse staff, including assigning tasks, managing shift rotations, and monitoring overall team performance.
  • Train new employees and provide ongoing coaching to ensure adherence to standard operating procedures.
  • Supervise inventory tracking and control processes by monitoring stock levels, organizing regular audits, and implementing quality control measures.
  • Use warehouse management systems (WMS) to update records, track movements, and manage stock rotation effectively.
  • Ensure accurate and timely processing of incoming and outgoing shipments, verifying documentation and coordinating with transportation providers.
  • Manage loading and unloading processes to maintain an efficient flow of goods.
  • Monitor the operation of warehouse equipment (e.g., forklifts, pallet jacks) and ensure routine maintenance and safety checks.
  • Maintain a clean and organized warehouse environment, ensuring that storage areas are properly labeled and hazards are minimized.
  • Identify inefficiencies in current processes and collaborate with management to implement improvements that boost productivity and reduce costs.
  • Participate in regular reviews of workflow, suggesting adjustments where necessary.
  • Compile daily activity reports, inventory discrepancies, and incident logs.
  • Communicate critical information to senior management and support data-driven decision-making.

Performance expectations

  • Consistently meet key performance indicators (KPIs) such as on-time shipments, minimal inventory discrepancies, and high productivity levels.
  • Maintain strict control over inventory records, ensuring precision in stock counts and minimizing errors in order fulfillment.
  • Enforce adherence to company policies, OSHA regulations, and safety procedures at all times.
  • Demonstrate strong leadership by motivating team members, fostering a collaborative work environment, and ensuring that all staff members are well-informed about their responsibilities.
  • Address operational issues promptly, whether related to delayed shipments, inventory inaccuracies, or equipment malfunctions.

Accountability

  • Be accountable for the efficient and safe operation of the warehouse, including meeting operational goals and maintaining service quality.
  • Take responsibility for maintaining high levels of inventory accuracy and minimizing losses through proactive stock control measures.
  • Directly oversee the performance, training, and development of warehouse employees, ensuring that each team member meets or exceeds established performance standards.
  • Provide regular performance updates and incident reports to senior management, ensuring transparency in warehouse operations.

Key Requirements

As a warehouse supervisor, you must have the following minimum requirements to qualify as a candidate for this role:

Minimum Education

  • A High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
  • In many cases, an Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Logistics, or a related field is preferred.

Certifications & Licenses

  • A valid Forklift (Fork Truck) License is preferred.
  • Dangerous Goods Handling or Aviation Security.

Experience

  • Candidates should have a minimum of 3 to 5 years of hands-on experience in warehouse or logistics operations.
  • Demonstrated experience in a supervisory or people management role within a fast-paced and high-pressure warehouse environment is highly valued.

Hard skills

  • Knowledge of warehousing procedures, including inventory management, stock control, receiving, shipping, and dispatch operations.
  • Proficiency in using Warehouse Management Systems (WMS), with practical experience in SAP or similar systems.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel) and other relevant IT systems for data management and reporting.
  • Solid understanding of workplace health and safety protocols (e.g., OSHA guidelines) and the ability to enforce these standards consistently.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to effectively lead, train, and motivate warehouse staff.
  • Effective problem-solving skills to quickly address issues such as inventory discrepancies, equipment malfunctions, or logistical challenges.
