Inside this issue:
- Satisfaction vs. engagement
- AI that predicts exits
- The 21% productivity unlock
Hey HR Folks,
Someone on your team is doing everything right. Showing up, hitting their numbers, responding to messages. And they are also, quietly, already gone. Not physically. But the part of them that used to care, initiate, and push back has left the building.
The tricky part is that you probably can’t tell who they are yet.
Engagement is not satisfaction

Knowing the difference is step one. Acting on it is another thing entirely. Here’s where to start this week.
- Run a three-question pulse survey on your highest-risk team.
- Map each team member’s role to one visible company goal, in writing.
- Check when the last meaningful feedback conversation happened.
- Identify one person who hasn’t taken on anything new in 90 days and find out why.

Let AI spot the early warnings

AI doesn’t replace HR judgment. But it gives you the early warning system, so your judgment kicks in before it’s too late.
- Audit what data your current HR system is actually tracking, engagement scores, attendance patterns, survey responses
- Set up automated alerts for drops in pulse survey scores across two consecutive periods.
- Use AI to flag which managers haven’t had documented one-on-ones in the last 30 days.
- Free up one hour per week per HR manager from admin, and redirect it to a direct conversation with a team.
The hack to unlock 21% extra productivity

Employees who feel they have good work-life balance work 21% harder than those who don’t. That’s not a wellness stat. It’s a performance stat. And it’s sitting uncaptured in most organisations right now.
- Pick two roles where output is measurable and presence isn’t. Pilot flex hours this month.
- Put your after-hours communication policy in writing. Don’t leave it assumed.
- Move one recurring standup to a time the team actually wants.
- Make work-life check-ins a standing item in one-on-ones, not a separate initiative nobody shows up to.

Engagement check
Pick one team. If two people on it quietly decided to leave next month, would you know before their notice landed?
