IT Onboarding Process Checklist

Regardless of how experienced the new recruits are with technology, ask a member of your IT team to walk them through the configuration process to ensure they are efficient as quickly as possible.

A systematic IT onboarding procedure benefits new recruits in the following ways:

  • Set up client accounts and familiarize themselves with the hardware and applications they will be using
  • Understand and adhere to security rules
  • Feel assured that they have the resources they need to complete their tasks

Use this checklist to plan successful IT onboarding sessions for new employees:

  • Get all the required details about the new hires from the HR department such as:
    • Name
    • Job role
    • Contact information
    • Required software and permissions
  • Now order the equipment they’ll need to perform their tasks such as:
    • Laptop/desktop
    • Keyboard
    • Mouse
    • USBs
    • Cables
  • Analyze which tools and access will the new hire need including:
    • Productivity tools
    • Project management software
    • Analytics
  • Ensure to get approval from management

First Day duties:

  • Set up the workstation
  • Set company accounts like:
    • Emails
    • Communication platform
    • Login credentials such Okta, OneLogin, etc
  • Brief them on how to use office equipment such as:
    • Fax machines
    • Printers
    • Projectors
  • Explain how they can reach out to you in case of any technical issues
