Maybe you want to take the next big jump to a leadership role or a management role but don’t know how to go about it?

Apart from your knowledge, experience, and dedication, one thing that can help you to make a move in your professional career is a certification course. If you are in an HR role then you can find many HR certification courses that can help you grow your career.

The importance of HR certification in growing your career

HR certifications add value and weightage to your candidature as an HR professional. A prestigious HR certification sets you apart from the rest of your peers in the competition. HR certifications help you to secure a senior level position in any organization. Some other benefits of having HR certification include:

  • Increasing Your Industry Knowledge

Like any industry, you need to stay up-to-date with industry knowledge. HR Certification helps to brush up your skills and learn the latest updates of the industry. It also helps to learn the industry’s best practices and pick up new technical knowledge.

  • It Is An Investment In Yourself

Organizations hire employees based on their skill sets. Having relevant certifications improve your skillset and thus make you a more suitable candidate for hire. Unlike degrees that show that you have just taken a course, certification proves that you have demonstrated certain skills and expertise up to a standardized level. Apart from improving your competencies, it also signals that you are serious about your career and willing to make an investment on yourself.

  • Give You An Edge During The Selection

Hiring managers always prefer candidates who have HR certification while making their hiring decisions. Certified HR professionals can also make an impact on the financial health of the organization than those who don’t. If you’re a certified HR professional, it sends out a positive message that you can be entrusted with more responsibility in the organization.

  • Broaden Your Future Career Scope

Certifications are a great way to future proof your career and be able to take up varied roles. With the rapid speed of innovation that we are going through, you just can’t rely on your past laurels anymore. You need to constantly update your skills. Doing relevant certifications certainly helps you to stay a notch higher.

  • HR Certifications And Impact On Pay Trajectory

To determine the impact of HR certifications on pay trajectories, PayScale conducted a survey followed by a detailed analysis in 2018. As a part of their survey, PayScale gathered the demographic and salary information of 102, 000 respondents who have an HR job role. PayScale analyzed that 34 percent of the surveyors have at least one HR certification. They further applied a statistical model to reveal that among two employees in similar profiles, the employee with an HR certification is likely to see a certain percent pay boost when compared to the employee without this certification. In other words, HR certification does play a strong role in pay trajectory.
