Voluntary PF (Provident Fund) is an investment scheme that is part of the traditional provident fund scheme. Under this option, employees are allowed to make contributions over and above the minimum contribution set by EPFO (Employee Provident Fund Organization). It does not include 12% of the salary that is contributed to EPF (Employee Provident Fund). Employees can contribute up to 100% of their Basic Salary and Dearness Allowance. Investment experts advise investing in VPF (Voluntary Provident Fund) as it offers a rate of interest of 8.5% that is higher than the rate of interest offered by PPF (Public Provident Fund).
